Ain’t no question if I want it, I need it. I can feel it slowly drifting away from me” Kanye West featuring Kid Cudi and  Raekwon, “Gorgeous”, Dark Fantasy, 2011

Justice. What a befitting start to 30 Days of Kanye?! Justice. Sweet justice. Poetic justice. Gorgeous justice.  Justice is the administering of deserved punishment or reward.  Fairness.  It’s the understanding that for every action there is a reaction – be it good or bad.  This is why I like this song.  Not only is it a tight beat, but sonically, it conjures up my college memories of Wu-Tang Clan.  And lyrically Kanye has stepped up his rap game.  Not that he was bad, but I think an artist is only as good as his last rhyme.  He’s still cocky and narcissistic, but in a more healthy way.  Is there a way to have healthy narcissism? And if so, what is it called?

This brings me to the focus of today: the personal justice inherent in the song’s hook. (See below). It’s extremely relatable to me.  And since this is the first day of 30 days, I think it is only appropriate that we focus on the self, the choices we make, and whether or not they are righteously just.  I feel Cudi when he sings “If you blow this, you bogus. I will never ever let you live this down.” It makes me think about my journey as a time-sensitive endeavor where there is very little room for mistakes.  Mistakes of having the wrong people around. Mistakes of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mistakes of listening to haters. And mistakes of not trusting instincts and the gut voice that reminds us of what to do and what not to do.  Justice. Sweet justice. Poetic justice. Gorgeous justice.  How do you define your justice? What does your personal justice look like?

“Ain’t no question if I want…[Justice], I need…[Justice]
I can feel [justice] slowly drifting away from me…
No more chances if you blow this, you bogus
I will never ever let you live this down, down, down”
[Justice is Gorgeous. Embrace its beauty. It’s time.]
The DDR: What do you have going on in your life that’s blocking you from your destiny? Are you about to blow it? Are you loosing your chances to get it right?  Think about it.
